Vielen Dank Für Alles: A Great Final Day in Frankfurt

Attending the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2023 was remarkable, but all good things must end, as they say—and what a great final day in Frankfurt it was for ReadersMagnet.

Grüße zurück aus Frankfurt!

Book fairs have always been the best way to celebrate both books and reading—and Frankfurter Buchmesse 2023 has been no exception. With its wonderful line-up of authors and publishers, its almost inexhaustible samplings of new and upcoming publications, and its endless roll-out of books, books, and books, it was the year’s greatest event for literature anywhere in the world.

As the largest book fair in the world, the Buchmesse was bound to be a bonanza, but nothing really prepares you for the experience itself. Yes, you can read about the atmosphere, the thrill, and the excitement of it all—but that doesn’t do it enough justice: you had to be there to be there.

The 2023 Frankfurter Buchmesse

Held in one of the wealthiest and most culturally rich cities in the world, the Buchmesse in Frankfurt was one of the most hotly anticipated book events in the world—and it ticked the box on everything and more, exceeding all expectations!

The Frankfurt Trade Fair Grounds easily accommodated the tens of thousands of visitors who attended the event this year. There was everything for everyone there, from established writers and emerging talents to first-time visitors and veteran attendees to large multinational companies to small start-ups–it was truly a sight to see.

Genre-wise, almost every selection category under the sun could be found within the fairgrounds, with a particular emphasis on children’s literature, this year’s surprising focus on the comic books industry, and the brilliant and enlightening showcase of Slovenian literature.

Special Moments in the Buchmesse

ReadersMagnet is extremely gratified to have attended this year’s event, taking advantage of the confluence of everything and everyone from the publishing industry gathering to the world’s largest book fair and learning the newest and most impactful trends, spreading our connections, and getting to meet some of the most wonderful individuals and groups out there.

Here are some of the special moments of this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair:

  • The ARTS+ and its invaluable insights on the present landscape of content creation and publication.
  • The Frankfurt Rights Meeting’s in-depth discussion of the changing philosophies on rights and licensing, especially against the backdrop of current digital trends.
  • The Publishing Perspectives forum’s detailed layout of the future direction of the global publishing industry.
  • The International Translation Center’s perspectives and methods on how to better translate works with the use of AI.
  • The Hof’s lively debates and conversations with various hot-button issues in the literary world.

It was an all-around extraordinary event that we are grateful for attending.

A Great Final Day in Frankfurt

While attendees can explore the fairgrounds for hours on end without ever getting enough, we at ReadersMagnet have more modest satisfactions.

One of the highlights of the Buchmesse, for us, is the small triumph (compared to the big happenings in the book fair) of our author talks and book signings. We’re so proud of the lessons and the stories that our authors talked about in our booth–and we are so glad that their book signings were a success.

While we’re no strangers to the Buchmesse, it was our first time attending as an exhibitor–with our own kiosk, our own scheduled events, etc. ReadersMagnet’s goal has always been to present the best and widest stage for authors to share their stories–and while we have attended international book fairs before, nowhere does it come close to the accomplishment of attending the Buchmesse, standing on our own legs!

From fifty books back in 2017 to over a hundred works we’ve got on display now, ReadersMagnet has come a long, long way—and we couldn’t have ever done it without our authors, our readers, and our staff.

Vielen Dank Für Alles

For everyone who came to our booth, thank you (Danke!) for being with ReadersMagnet at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023. We couldn’t have had such a successful event and a great final day without you—and a shout-out, of course, to everyone in the company, to the ones who were on the frontlines and the ones holding down the fort: it’s because of our shared vision that our attendance in Frankfurt was such a resounding success.
